Getting started

A Seven Frame Design

It started with a Seven page design that came from the client which they got from another source and the clients were not happy with that. After our initial meeting we had given the client the required clarity in the design as well as the product and the requirements, thereby making us an integral part in building the entire app.

Requirement

Online Medical App

Create an online medical app which can provide complete medical support in a few steps. It has to contain both online and home support

The Challenge

The main challenge of the requirement was the business location. The Kingdome of Saudi Arabia is the location we were focusing. Since majority of the people in the country still follows a traditional orthodox lifestyle it was'nt easy to implement and familiarise a new technology. We had to educate them properly

Understand the users medical awareness from Saudi Arabia

Before we start working on the product we have done some research to understand, how often people in Saudi will go to hospitals incase of any emergency.

Empowering users to solve queries right away.

While working on any kind of design, we need to consider the people who is not much used with the technology. So educate them properly about all our procedures.

My Role

A team with brilliant young minds

I lead the Product Design team of Sanar App . During this project I had the opportunity to work with such an amazing team composed of a number of young blood. We are a team with 5 designers and many other developers.

Competitors

Analogous Research

Initially we didnt had much competitors in the Saudi market. So it was hard to collect user feedbacks regarding a medical app. So we took reference from Practo app to understand the user flows and working model. Later we got many competitors.

Insight #1 – The business model was not exactly same

Some research and flow checks done on Practo helped us to understand how the app is connecting to the user and how an online medication is happening. But still Practo did not had our exact business model, we have derived some flow changes in between.

Insight #2 – Separate app for user and technician

They have different application for both user and technician, which was a new information for us. We were not thinking about that until we came across that. As we are very new to the business all the information we were gathering was usefull to us.

User Interviews

Designing for users mental models

As the main team was from Saudi, we did'nt got much chance to interact directly with the end user. But we took our business people and categorized them into groups and did various interviews.

The interview sample took into account men and women aged from 18 to 58, inserted in the economically active population of the Saudi Arabia. The interview took approximately 30 minutes with each person and included topics to get to the core of what users need while having a medical emergency. So I Asked:

Can you tell me about your experience with using medical apps or similar healthcare services?

What specific health-related tasks or issues do you currently manage or seek assistance with?

How often do you use technology or apps to manage your health or seek medical information?

What are the biggest challenges you face when trying to manage your health or medical information online?

How do you typically search for and select medical apps or healthcare services?

What features or functionalities do you consider essential in a medical app?

Customer Insights

A card sorting activity containing specific actions, features, or content was performed in order to let them layer out which piece of content should live on the home screen and which should be deprioritized to a second step. As a follow-up activity, users were prompt to group these cards into “must-have”, “delightful”, and “not important” buckets.

Insight #1 – Usage of the Video consultation

People were more keen into using the video consultaion method to avoid the hospital vist as they faced many issues while going to hospitals like long waiting and traffic. So when we considerd all categories we came to know that video consultation is going to be a big change in the Saudi market to make their life easy in difficult situation.

Insight #2 – Privacy and Security

People were concerned about the data privacy and security regarding their health issues and genuinty of the practitioners. So we decided to educate them about the medical licencing and end to end encryption.

Based on the insights gathered in the Analogous Research, Customer Support Request and former research we have concluded the flows and requirements. The pain points user raised helped us to understand the user needs,.
